👀 The Headliner: Syracuse Beats Harvard 13-12 in OT 🍊
The storyline that stole the show this weekend.
One of the most anticipated games of the weekend was also the best.
Despite losing essentially every faceoff, which is what happened in the regular season matchup, Harvard controlled most of this game up until the 4th quarter.
A cross-checking penalty flipped the momentum after Syracuse scored three straight, including two by Trey Deere, before two more goals added by Luke Rhoa and Michael Leo gave them a late 12-11 lead.
Syracuse had the opportunity to run out the clock, but a terrific play by Martin Nelson set up the game-tying goal from Owen Gaffney with six seconds left.
Terrific check and GB by @HarvardMLax's Martin Nelson to set up the game-tying goal.

In overtime, John Mullen won the faceoff (he went 86% on the day) before Joey Spallina found a cutting Owen Hiltz for the game winner.
It was a signature moment for both Spallina and Hiltz, and gives the Orange a ton of confidence to win a gritty, come from behind game.
They’ll face #3 Princeton in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday at 2:30 PM.
As for the Crimson, this loss stings. They controlled the game until the last ten minutes, but still a successful season. They lose Sam King, but should still be a contender in the Ivy next season.
🤝 The Supporting Cast
The things that weren't maybe the star of the weekend, but still important.
1. Richmond Wins First Ever NCAA Tournament Game, Beats UNC 13-10 🕷️
A long time coming for the Spiders.
This felt like the year they needed to win an NCAA tournament game to propel their program - here’s what I wrote on March 18.

Down 5-2 at halftime, Richmond rattled off 11 goals in the 2nd half, including three by leading goal-scorer Lucas Littlejohn to pull out the win.
A lot of teams were picking the Spiders to win this game, so you can barely call it an upset, but it’s really cool to see them finally take the next step.
They play top seeded Cornell in the quarterfinals, a team they only lost to by one goal in March.
2. Penn State Survives Colgate 13-11 🦁
Another popular upset pick was the Raiders to beat the Nittany Lions.
It looked like that might happen late in the 4th quarter as LSM Sam Erickson tallied his second of the day to put Colgate up 11-10 with 5:29 left in the game, but two Liam Matthews goals and a Matt Traynor empty netter sealed the deal for Penn State.

Much like with Syracuse, this was good for Penn State to pull out a gritty win in comeback fashion against a really good Colgate team.
They get a date with Notre Dame in the quarterfinals next weekend.
🎯 Quick Hits
The weekend's standout plays, hustle moments, and everything in between.

Princeton attackman and FCL Athlete Nate Kabiri stinging a corner.

Albany’s Silas Richmond with the backhand beauty.

Maryland attackman and FCL Athlete Eric Spanos playing bully ball.
📈 On the Rise
Spotlighting players and teams who are setting themselves up for big things ahead.
1. Ronan Fitzpatrick (Attack - Towson)
I haven’t watched much of Towson outside of the Johns Hopkins game, so I came away impressed with Fitzpartick.
He led Towson with 4 goals, most of which were unassisted efforts, showcasing patience and strength to get to the cage.
2. Brady Smith (Goalie - Albany)
Smith got shelled in the second half against #1 Cornell, but he had some really impressive saves.
He did his best to keep the Great Danes in the contest early, and as a freshman, put together a really impressive performance.
